Wyatt Earp Birthplace Museum
Long before Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, became famous for the legendary Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, AZ, he started life in Forgottonia. Earp was born in 1848 in the front bedroom of a modest home on 3rd Street in Monmouth, IL. Just a short trip up Rt. 67 from Macomb, The Wyatt Earp Birthplace Museum honors this fabled Wild West lawman by preserving his birthplace and offering regular open houses. Though the homestead is in the process of updates and renovation the furnished rooms and grounds can still be walked through. Check their Facebook page for times and open houses, and be sure to call ahead.
