WESTERN ILLINOIS MUSEUM-McKain Lakey

May 8 @ 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The Western Illinois Museum welcomes musical guest, McKain Lakey, to “Our Front Porch” on Sunday, May 8th. The program will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. Cash bar and food trucks will be available. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door.
The Museum’s “Our Front Porch” space is where we gather to learn about our history and traditions while we make new memories. Despite ongoing renovations to the Museum, a new Sunday summer music series will begin with Minnesota singer-songwriter, McKain Lakey. Her most recent album, Somewhere, was described by Frank Giokas, from What’s Up Magazine, as “…beautiful and intense original compositions and covers from days gone by, McKain brought goosebumps the whole way through.” McKain holds a degree from Berklee College of Music and is trained in the clawhammer style of banjo. She comes to American folk music with the knowledge that she is part of a living tradition that she describes as “a web-connected across time and distance, and built by generations of creative and resilient people.” McKain will perform two sets of music starting at 4:00 pm and at 5:00 pm.
For more information about McKain, visit her website at https://www.mckainlakey.com.
Upcoming musical guests to the Sunday summer series on “Our Front Porch” include Dennis Stroughmatt et L’Esprit Creole on Sunday, June 12th from 3:30 to 6:30 pm.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and through local funds from the Two Rivers Arts Council, a regional arts organization.
The Museum is located at 201 South Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s courthouse square. For more information, contact the Museum by phone at 309.837.2750, by text at 309.837.2613, or info@wimuseum.org, or visit the website at www.wimuseum.org.
